The A.O.H.
Division 16, and Ladies A.O.H. Division 16 are proud to announce that the 18th
annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Saturday March 15, 2008 at 2
p.m. on Main St. in Mount Kisco, N.Y. The celebration is northern Westchester
County’s traditional St. Patrick’s Day parade. A solemn mass will be held prior
to the parade at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 11:30 a.m. in Mount Kisco, NY.
The parade will
start on Main St. and Moore Avenue and end at South Moger Ave. and Green St. in
Mount Kisco, NY. The parade Grand Marshal will be J. Michael Cindrich, Mayor of
Mount Kisco. Michael has served as Mayor since 2000 and previously serving as
Village Trustee, Deputy Mayor, Chairman of Zoning Board and little league coach.
Michael is currently employed as a Lieutenant with the Town of Mamaroneck Police
Department, and has been recognized for heroism and contributions to the law
enforcement community.
The Hibernian of
the Year will be Ann McGrath of Katonah. Ann has served as President of the
Ladies A.O.H., Division 16, has been a member for thirty one years, and has
served Irish-American causes over the years. Ann is a parishioner of St. Mary’s
of Katonah and was a long serving librarian and counselor at J.F.K. High school.
The Friend of the
Hibernians will be James Murphy of Wappingers Falls. Jim is an independent truck
driver who currently works for McCoy Transportation in Bedford Hills. Jim has
supported the Mount Kisco parade for many years, following in his fathers
footsteps. The parade will feature over sixty marching groups such as military
reenactment groups, military marching bands, antique cars, antique NYC Police
cars, Irish bagpipe bands and Irish step dancers, and many community
organizations.
On Friday March
7, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. the Division will host the annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner
and Grand Marshal Installation at the Knights of Columbus in Mount Kisco, N.Y.
The admission is $75 per person and will have a full sit down dinner and musical
entertainment by the Jimmy Gallagher band. In honor of the annual “Hibernian
Hunger Project” the Division will collect canned food to donate to a local food
pantry in remembrance of the Great Hunger in Ireland. The A.O.H. Division 16 is
a non profit organization formed on September 13, 1891 and is comprised of
practicing Roman Catholic men and women of Irish descent living in the northern
Westchester County area. The A.O.H. has donated over $144,852.00 to area
community organizations since 1992. A journal will be printed to help underwrite
the expenses of the parade. To place an advertisement in the journal please

is more than an ethnic celebration; it is also an event which is a source of

RSHM Director of Religious Education at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in
Mount Kisco. Sister is a second generation Irish-American whose grandparents
came from Ireland more than 100 years ago. Sister is a Religious of the Sacred
Heart of Mary who taught in Virginia, France and Illinois. Sister has also
taught at Our Lady of Victory Academy, Dobbs Ferry, chaired religious studies at
Fordham Preparatory School, Bronx, and served as Curriculum Director at Convent
of the Sacred Heart, Greenwich, Ct. Sister was a founding board member of COPA,
a group of educators, social workers and counselors who worked to prevent
incidents of hostility and social unrest in the schools and community. Three
years ago, Sister founded the Green Street Bridge, a 5-week summer program for
local Hispanic children. Sister is also an active member of the Emergency
Shelter Partnership. The installation of the Grand Marshal will be on February
11, 2008, at 2 PM at the American Legion in Mount Kisco, NY.
The Hibernian of the Year
will be Kevin P. Galvin. Kevin is a Past President of A. O. H. Div. 16,
current Financial Secretary, and a member since 1998. Kevin retired from law
enforcement in N. Y. C. in 2001. He volunteers as a Firefighter with the
Bedford Hills Fire Department, and volunteers with Americares. Kevin is a
member of St. Mary’s parish in Katonah and also volunteers there with religious
studies and custodial work.
This year’s honoree as the
Friend of the Hibernians will be Sister Kathleen E. Fitzgerald SC of
St. Patrick’s School in Bedford. Sister’s parents came from Ireland. On
September 8, 1955, she entered the Sisters of Charity of Mount Saint Vincent in
NY. Sister has previously been assigned to St. Anthony’s School in Bronx, NY,
and St. Bernard’s School in Manhattan. For the past forty-two years she has
been assigned to St. Patrick’s School in Bedford as a teacher.
The parade will feature over
