The Harp and Shamrock Society of Texas has selected “Green Honors the Blue”
as the theme for the 2007 St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 2 p.m. Saturday, March
17, 2007.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus has been selected as Grand Marshal
for the 39th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade (contact about the

210-545-1633).
The annual parade is the crown jewel of the six events sponsored by the Harp
and Shamrock Society of Texas during the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and
Events.
The celebration begins with the annual Golf Scramble at 11 a.m. Friday,
March 2, 2007, at the Northern Hills Country Club (contact: Wayne Faught at
699-1362).
The St. Patrick’s 5K Run/Walk will be held at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10,
2007, at Brackenridge Park (contact: Richard Donovan 210-543-2945).
The 40th annual Alamo Wreath Laying ceremony to honor the Irish and
Irish-American heroes of the Battle of the Alamo is scheduled for noon
Friday, March 16, 2007, in front of the Alamo (contact: Terry McDonald
830-612-3331)..
The 18th annual Alamo Irish Festival will be held from Friday,
March 16, through Sunday, March 18, 2007, in La Villita and the Arneson
River Theater (contact: Victor Villegas 1-830-885-2096). The highlight of
the Irish Festival is the 38th annual St. Patrick’s River Dying Parade at 1
p.m. Sunday March 18, 2007, along the River Walk and ending with a ceremony
at the Arneson River Theater (contacts: Mae Kelly 210-344-4317 or Richard
Brewer 210-490-8827).
The Irish
Festival will feature live entertainment on two stages and numerous food,
drink, and other booths. Domestic and Irish beers will be available, as
well as a variety of food. An Irish genealogy booth will provide
Irish-Americans a chance to trace their roots.
