Jack Kehoe Division #1 Girardville is proud to host the
6th Annual Girardville St. Patrick's Day Parade
Saturday, March 19TH, 2011
At 12 noon -Rain or Shine!
The Fifth Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade sponsored by
Jack Kehoe Division No. 1 will be held in Girardville on Saturday, March 19,
2011 starting at 12 Noon sharp. This years parade is dedicated to Sports, both
past and present, and our Irish Heritage. The parade will be preceded by Mass at
10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, 211 W. Main Street.
This years parade is expected to have in excess of 200
entries, making it one of the larger parades in Pennsylvania. There will be pipe
and drum bands, high school bands, string bands and other bands, plus many other
floats and marching units. Many A. O. H. units will be in the line of march
also.
After the parade there will be Irish entertainment and
food and refreshments at several locations around the town. This years
commemorative booklet with the parade program will feature a history of the
local sports scene.
Entries can register up until 11:30 AM the morning of
the parade at the Girard Hose Co. No. 1 located at 120 E. Main Street, although
an early registration will ensure a better spot in the parade line-up.
Registrants can also register by mail by sending the organization information,
including the name and type of organization and number of marchers to John "Mouche"
Mc Nelis, Parade Chairman, 102 W. South St., Mahanoy City, PA 17948. Plan to get
into town early because parking will be at a premium and the town will be closed
to traffic after 10:00 AM.
The Parade Committee would appreciate your participation
in this annual event. Trophies will be awarded. Deadline for registration is
March 22nd. Late registrations will be taken up until 11:30am on the date of the
parade, however last minute registrations will be placed at the rear of the
parade line-up. If your group would like to participate, please mail a paper
with: group/organization name; group leader(s)/ President/Director; number of
marchers/participants; contact person for group with phone number; is group
providing any form of music (band, audio equipped system, float w/speakers);
date group/organization founded; city, county, regional area group headquarters
is located; and parade will be broadcast on Service Electric Cable TV, would
there be anything special to be said on behalf, or any interesting facts about
your group. We hope to see you there.
